Registrations for Stepathlon cross 13,000 mark
Participants from 80 companies based in 100 Indian cities and 18 countries have joined a growing list of sign-ups for the first edition of Stepathlon
Bangalore, August 23, 2012: With less than 3 weeks left for the first edition of Stepathlon to begin, Stepathlon Lifestyle Pvt. Ltd. (SLPL) today announced that 13,000 participants from 80 leading Indian and international companies and based in 100 Indian cities and 18 countries have signed on to participate in the first edition of the initiative, with more coming on board every day. SLPL is a global wellness company founded by Ravi Krishnan, former Managing Director of IMG South Asia in partnership with Shane Bilsborough, international nutrition & exercise expert and author.
Commencing on September 10, 2012, the unique pedometer-based, mass participation event will be conducted over 100 consecutive days with the core objective of promoting health, fitness and well-being among participants.
The business houses that have signed on for the 2012 edition of Stepathlon includes Mahindra and Mahindra, Aditya Birla Financial Services Group, Deutsche Bank, Godrej Properties, Intel, HDFC Ltd, HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra, Yes Bank, Apollo Tyres, TATA Sky Ltd, Titan and Reliance Brands. The participants are based in 100 Indian cities that include the metros and smaller ones like Kochi, Jaisalmer, Pathankot and Kalingnagar. Participants are also from 16 countries including Australia, USA and the United Arab Emirates.

The initiative is based on an internationally successful model developed by Shane Bilsborough, and provides a simple solution that transforms the sedentary into active and the active into more active, irrespective of age, gender, designation, location and fitness levels.
Stepathlon will help employees to work towards a more active life, enabling them to be healthier and reduce their risks of life-threatening diseases.Global health authorities recommend a minimum of 10,000 steps per day to be active. Stepathlon will be conducted in the form of a race around a “virtual world” and is for companies of all sizes, across all industries and countries. Stepathlon encourages participants to take 10,000 steps every day over 100 days.
