Samiulla’s entourage for filing his Nomination from Jayanagar Assembly Constituency looked more like a victory rally! Thousands of party workers and youths accompanied the JD(S) candidate for his Nomination. Samiulla earlier visited a mosque and a temple to seek divine blessings.
Talking to TWB Samiulla oozed confidence about his chances saying that the Congress lost his momentum in Jayanagar by delaying the announcement of its candidate which also showed that no single aspirant had the support of all the workers and leaders. In the case of the ruling BJP, it was virtually on sleep mode and seemed to be over-confident of winning the election failing to understand that the youth and the sincere party workers are not treated well by its leader. The way was thus clear for his party and his candidature, said Samiulla.
Explaining his strategy, Samiulla said he had reached out to the majority of minority votes which was around 45,000. Many youngsters from economically weaker background were regularly approaching him seeking financial help for school admission even before his name was officially endorsed by his party. With the support of the minorities, if Samiulla can garner at least around 5,000 Hindu votes, along with the assured Vokkaliga votes, his victory will be difficult to stop.
Samiulla revealed that he was also surprised by the support from his old connections with the Congress, and also from the BJP workers with RSS background, given his equation with them. Many of these workers had joined the JD(S) and canvassing for him.
He said he is grateful to these workers and said it showed their concern for governance and promised to recognize their efforts if he is elected.
