IRAQI BREATHES EASY WITH AN INDIAN LUNG, LEAVES TO BAGHDAD
- Iraqi national, who had single lung transplantation earlier recovered completely and is all set to go back home.

Mr. Kareem Hameed Ameen, the 33 year old Iraqi recipient of an Indian lung that was successfully transplanted in him last month is breathing easy and leaving for home today. During a farewell function organized on his behalf where the team of surgeons were also felicitated, feeling very emotional, Mr. Hameed profusely thanked the magnanimous gesture of the Indian who donated the lung to give a new lease of life to him.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Hameed said “I profusely thank the people of India and Global Hospitals who magnanimously donated a lung and gave a new lease of life to me”.
Mr. Hameed from Baghdad, Iraq was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease with bullae and was referred to Global Hospitals for further management. He has been suffering for more than 2 years and was evaluated in many centers. Earlier this year also, he was admitted to Global Hospitals, Chennai and went back due to non availability of donors. On 16.12.11, he underwent successful single lung transplant surgery at Global Hospitals. Having recovered completely, he is is now ready to go home.
