Horses gallop for the BASE Trinity Polo Cup

~ Team 61st Cavalry won over team ASC~ The Game of Kings – Polo’ is going through renaissance at the Army grounds through the Bangalore Polo Season - April 2012. Today was the day of the heated match between 61st Cavalry (the only horsed cavalry) and team ASC, where the teams were competing for the second cup of the Bangalore Polo Season April 2012 – BASE Trinity Polo Cup. The team 61stCavalry and ASC battled it out for the Base Trinity Polo Cup, where Team 61stCavalry beat ASC by 2 goals; the scores being 6-4 respectively. Samir Suhag, the highest handicapper of the country guided his young team 61st Cavalry to win the trophy. 61st Cavalry sported the green jersey which appealed to the audience against the green grass and handsome brown horses on the ground whereas the home team ASC sported the yellow jersey. The umpires were Shakti Singh Rathore and Bhawani Kalvi. HNIs and several corporates from Bangalore were also spotted at the match. The players for the winning team 61st Cavalry included Samir Suhag, Samir Chaudhury, Jaideep Singh and Danny Sweetens.The players in team ASC included Col. Sandhu, GS Pandher, Cap.Prathvi Rathore and Maj.Faiz Siddiqui. Out of these players, Sameer Suhag, Col. NS Sandhu, Col. Pandher, Maj.Siddiqui and Maj. Samir Chaudhury are international players. International player Samir Suhag is the highest handicapper in the country.  The audience included some of the well known name in the Bangalore, HNIs, army families and all patrons of the sport.   Samir Suhag came out as the destroyer for the opponent team who tried really hard to equal the scores. Samir Chaudhary of the winning team was also seen as the hero of the match whose gallop for the goal was faster than the horses itself. Both the Samir’s who sported the green jersey came out as the heroes of the match who scored 3 goals each for the 61st Cavalry. Today’s game witnessed 3 penalties, which were 30 yard, 40 yard and 60 yard, credit goes to the strict umpires who never missed out on fouls. The 4th and the final chukker of today’s match was a crucial time of the game since the score was 3-4, with 61st cavalry leading. Though Team ASC was trying its best to put a stiff competition to Team 61st Cavalry, Samir Suhag and Samir Chaudhury hit the last two goals winning the Cup for their team. There has been a lot of action both on and off the ground as the glitterati gathered yet again over high-tea and cocktails after the marvelous Polo match. The game ended with High Tea, cocktails and live band along with Art Exhibition curated by renowned artist Pragya Jain.
